"Köszönet" 1957-2017
1956 októberében egy aprócska, de elszánt nemzet felemelte fejét és nemet mondott az elnyomásra, a diktatúrára és szembe szállt a világ akkori legnagyobb birodalmával. A Nagy Imre-kormány honvédelmi minisztere, az evangélikus, mártír Maléter Pál mellett a forradalmat követő szabadságharcból a magyar evangélikusok is kivették részüket. Tették ezt ugyanúgy, ahogy az 1848-49 forradalom és szabadságharc során – a szintén evangélikus Kossuth mellett sokan -, hitük, megkérdőjelezhetetlen szabadság iránti vágyuk és tenni akarásuk talaján.
Mi, evangélikus magyarok büszkék vagyunk a forradalom minden hősére, felekezeti hovatartozástól függetlenül.
Mi, magyar evangélikusok emellett büszkék vagyunk arra is, hogy a szabadságharc elfojtását követően Európa és a világ evangélikusai – mások mellett természetesen – a magyarok megsegítése érdekében összefogtak.
Segítették a menekülőket, támogatták az otthon maradottakat. Legfőképp Ausztriában, de Olaszországban, Angliában, máshol is menekülttáborokat alakítottak ki, komplex segítséget nyújtottak, valamint a skandináv országoktól Argentínán át az Egyesült Államokig befogadták a menekült magyarokat. A fedél és élelem mellett nyelvet oktattak, mai kifejezéssel élve pszicho-szociális támogatást adtak menekülő honfitársainknak.
Az 1956-os forradalom és szabadságharc hatvanadik évfordulójának tavalyi, méltó megemlékezése mellett, azt a magunk módján kiegészítve 2017-ben, a „Segítés”- hatvanadik évfordulóján egy mobil kiállítással szeretnénk megköszönni külföldi közösségeknek, szervezeteknek a nagylelkűséget, szeretetet, befogadást és támogatást.
A projekt az ENSZ Menekültügyi Főbiztossága által rendelkezésre bocsátott képek és dokumentumok felhasználásával, valamint a Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe anyagi támogatásával jött létre.

The heroic moments of our historical events determine the focus of their memory and the celebration. Understandably, the world-wide solidarity wave, which followed the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and the War of Independence, remains in a shadow. Evangelical Diakónia commemorates this international help with its mobile exhibition, which is the first to be seen by the participants of the Hungarian Days in Wittenberg.
In October 1956, a tiny but determined nation lifted its head and said no to repression, dictatorship, and confrontated with the world's largest realm. Besides the Minister of Defense of the Imre Nagy Government, the Evangelical martyr Pál Maléter the Hungarian Lutherans also took part in the War of Independence following the Revolution. They did this just as during the Revolution and War of Independence of 1848-49 – many of them besides the evangelical Lajos Kossuth – based on their unquestionable desire for freedom and their will to do so.
We, the Lutheran Hungarians, are proud of all the heroes of the revolution, regardless of denominational affiliation.
We, the Hungarian Lutherans, are also proud of the fact that following the suppression of the War of Independence, the Lutherans in Europe and all around the world, together with others, started to cooperate to help the Hungarians.
They helped the refugees and supported those who stayed home. Especially in Austria, but in Italy, England and elsewhere, refugee camps were established, they provided complex assistance and hosted refugees from the Scandinavian countries through Argentina to the United States. They taught languages, gave psycho-social support to Hungarian refugees alongside shelter and food.
In addition to last year's commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the 1956 Revolution and the War of Independence, we would like to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Solidarity and support, saying thank you to communities and organizations for their love, acceptance and support.
The project has been implemented using the pictures and documents provided by the UNHCR and the financial support of Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe.
